***** HUNGERFORD in Berkshire
Hungerford is a small historic town set on the western fringe of Berkshire bordering Wiltshire to the West, Hampshire to the South and Oxfordshire to the North. It is 10 miles (16 km) west of Newbury.
The town centre is located four miles to the South of Junction 14 on the M4, eight miles to the West of Newbury and the A34 Birmingham to Southampton road. Its proximity to the M4 motorway (just five minutes away), make it the ideal place to have break from a long journey passing between London and Bristol .

The town also enjoys a main line rail service from London Paddington station.
Hungerfordis a very busy traditional market town.
Market lovers can enjoy an open market in the High Street each Wednesday. It is renowned for its many antique shops.
The town's historic market status is perpetuated by the significant number of small independent retail establishments providing visitor and resident alike personal service across a wide range of products.

Hungerfords has a wide variety of eating places, from small cafes to nice restaurants.
Hungerford is best-remembered today for a particularly tragic aspect of the town’s (and indeed the nation's) history, the Hungerford massacre on 19 August 1987. The incident resulted in the murder of 16 people by a gunman - Michael Ryan.
