***** WINDSOR in Berkshire
Windsor has a great history. During the medieval period Windsor was a very privileged settlement, being given the rights of a 'free borough' wheras other towns had to pay substantial fees to the king. During the Middle Ages Windsor was one of the fiftieth wealthiest towns in the England due to its close connection to the royals. This brought in many London merchants to the town and created great employment in the town.
This area is called the Royal Borough because of its association with one of the official residences of the British royal family and the location of Windsor Castle in Berkshire.

The majority of the current streets in Windsor date from the mid-19th century, but the main street in the town, Peascod Street is extremely ancient, it dates back before the castle and is even sugested as being of Roman origin.In comparison the Castle is a relatively recent building.

The castle was originally established by King William I of England but has been substantially altered and added to over the centuries. It is easily accessible by train/bus or from J6 of the M4 .

Originally a fully trafficked road bridge, it is now for pedestrians and cyclists only and provides an excellent walking route from Windsor to Eton's High Street. The walks along River Thames are magnificent

The town is a great place for tourists to visit, with much to do within and around the surrounding areas of the city. There are two railway stations, the Windsor and Eton central station and the Windsor and Eton Riverside station.
There is a theatre and many substantial hotels within the town and also Legoland is also located in the town.
The National Cycle Network lies within Windsor which is great for all the cycling entusiasts. Windsor Bridge which used to be a fully trafficked bridge is now just used by pedestrians and cyclists for a quick route from Windsor to Eton's High Street
